And we worked together for a while, and after a time he seemed to be better. Years later, I ran into him, and I could tell he was an athlete. I asked what he was doing. He told me he was captain of the swim team. I said, “I guess then you’re no longer afraid of sharks.” You know what he said? “The sharks are still there. I just out-swim them.” You never know what a person will do with impediments, and sometimes adversity has unseen benefits.”
